Description

Morphology

It is a small cavity with a large entrance 8 metres high by 3 wide that leads to a gallery about 10 metres long. It is a kind of elongated rock shelter to which we would give no relevance, were it not for its use that has been made of it in recent times by the people of the Pitarell.

Hydrology

The whole "worked" platform corresponds to the use of the cavity, both for the water storage system, creating a small dam that impounds the water that trickles down the final flowstone, and for the system of pipes, taps and hoses to distribute it over a long distance. It is a phenomenon that we have been able to observe in other places of the serra.

Other details

The whole feixa between the two entrances is strewn with the remains of old dry-stone walls; they are not the classic elements for making terraces and cultivating, rather they are fragments of old constructions and limits of the platform probably to limit slipping.

The sketch that accompanies it is a simple drawing made in an approximate way as we did not have the topography instruments at the time of the visit.

History

Known and used since remote times by the people of the area. Unpublished in speleological catalogues until it was visited on 29-12-2016 by members of the grup de l'espeleodijous.
