Coves del Morro del Vedell

Cova marina de 25 m. de recorregut, resta d'un conjunt desaparegut (Palamós, Baix Empordà)

Palamós • Baix Empordà25m0

Sea cave with a 25 m passage, the remnant of a vanished complex in Palamós (Baix Empordà).

Characteristics

Location

Past the eastern point of Palamós (la Galera), there was the beach of el Molinet, turned into a marina at the beginning of the 1990s. Between this and the next beach, cala Margarida, a rocky point called del Morro del Vedell or d'en Roca can be seen, which this cave passes through.

It should be said, however, that on current cartography, the point of el Morro del Vedell is located further E than the one known as punta d'en Roca.

Approximate coordinates and without much precision.

Description

Morphology

Originally it was a complex of three small sea caves of which only the longest is preserved, formed by a tunnel-corridor 20 metres long, 1 metres wide and with an average height of 5 metres. Near the W mouth there is a narrow gallery with a passage of 5 metres, perpendicular to the main one. The other two disappeared with the construction of the marina.

Other details

At present it is full of all kinds of rubbish.
