Description
Morphology
The gallery of the cova de l'Escala has regular dimensions of 2.5 x 7.5 metres and about 8 metres in length; at this point there is a kind of ladder formed by a trunk with steps, which allows climbing to an upper gallery full of blocks (currently the ladder is broken). At the end of this gallery and in the ceiling, a hole gives access to a room of notable dimensions where through the ceiling it communicates with the cova NS-19. The entrance of this cave is located 28 metres above and 30 metres to the east of the cova de l'Escala, it is constituted by a small gallery where at approximately 20 metres of passage a desobstruction had to be made. The total vertical extent is 36 metres (-28/+8).
Speleothems
The continuation of the small gallery of the cova NS-19 places us in a gallery with some concretions where on the floor a desobstruction was made that allowed the connection with the large room of the cova de l'Escala.
Progression
A fixed rope is installed for climbing. History
Known since ancient times as the entrance can be seen from afar, the first data is provided by G. Iñigo (SIE-CEA). GIRES re-explored it in various campaigns carried out in the 90s providing new data by linking the cova de l'Escala with the cova NS-19.
