Location

After kilometre 335 of the N-260 road between Senterada and Pont de Suert, after travelling 2.7 km and before reaching Adons, we will take a turn-off towards Abella d'Adons and in about 600 metres we will reach the solitary house of the Tono.

Cova no. 2 is found at the southern end of a small cliff, about 135 metres S-SE of the house of the Tono and about 35 metres before the Adons cave no. 1.

We will find Cova no. 3 after taking the turn-off towards Abella d'Adons and travelling 170 metres from where the cave will already be visible from the road, looking North and about 30 metres away on a small rocky outcrop and on the other side of the Prat. The cave is about 400 m before reaching the house of the Tono.

Description

Morphology

Group of three tiny caves.

Cova no. 1 d'Adons has a fairly regular cubic shape, only about 2 metres of passage as well as width, it appears cut or artificially worked, since it presents extremely regular walls and a vaulted ceiling.

Cova no. 2 d'Adons is found slightly suspended above the base of a cliff where a small step cut at the base helps to improve access. Of cubic and fairly regular shape, only about 2 metres of passage and width, it appears cut or artificially worked, since it presents extremely regular walls and a vaulted ceiling, only a small and narrow fissure located on the NW wall of the cavity breaks the regularity.

Cova no. 3 is a small habitable cavity with a flat floor, of low height and oriented to the South. In its outer part it has a small porch that enlarges the roofed surface of the whole cavity, it has 4 metres of passage.

History

Certainly known since remote times. The only data known were those given by Jordi de Valles in his Catàleg (2008) and which he had in turn taken from the Inventari del Patrimoni Arqueològic de Catalunya. In the summer of 2023 Jordi Navarro and Montse Mañosa of the Centre Excursionista de Castellar del Vallès visit and catalogue them.
