Characteristics

Location

Near km 12 of the C-431 road between La Múnia and Sant Jaume dels Domenys, we will take the turn-off towards the urban centre of La Carronya and once past it we will head towards the Gomila farmhouse.

From the farmhouse we will take a track on the left in a WNW direction, after 200 metres we will pass a pond on the right and continue along the main track climbing the Barranc Fondo towards the Barracota, a distance of 1.9 km. On the left of the main track the cave can be seen directly in a small cliff, some 20 metres above the level of the track.

Description

Morphology

The cave entrance is on the wall of the small cliff 3 metres above ground level, where a small climb will be necessary in order to gain access.

The entrance, 1.2x1.9 metres, allows us to comfortably enter a small distributor which in a SW direction quickly ends in a wall covered with flowstone with an impenetrable passage.

In a S direction, one can advance a little further by climbing until it ends in an impenetrable passage; the upper part of this section is used by some bird for nesting.

Speleothems

Wall covered with flowstone.

Progression

To gain access a small climb is necessary from the ground up to the entrance, located 3 metres above ground level.

History
