Tivissa • Ribera d'Ebre25m8m

Small cave with a 25 m passage near Llaberia, in the Ribera d'Ebre, with a descending gallery and a highly decorated circular chamber.

Characteristics

Location

From the small village of Llaberia, follow the GR-7 westward and shortly you reach the font de l'Horta. From there, heading N, a path sets off that crosses the Barranc de la Cova and climbs the opposite slope until reaching the cave. At present this path has practically disappeared and you must go cross-country.

Description

Morphology

The entrance has a small one-metre step that, via a descending gallery 10 metres long, leads into a circular chamber 15 metres in diameter, highly decorated and affected by a significant clastic process.

History

The only data we know about this cavity come from the record card and survey in the CMB archive made by N. Llopis Lladó around the year 1934. It should be said that he calls it Cova de les Ferreres and that it apparently must be the one currently known as Cova Massega.

In recent years it has been visited by our friend Floren Fadrique in the course of his biospeleological research.
