Description
Morphology
An entrance 3.27 metres wide by 2.21 metres high gives access to a gallery that keeps similar dimensions up to 7 metres. In this stretch, we find on the left a dry-stone wall forming a small shelter. At 7 metres of passage, on the right-hand wall and 1 metre up, we find a duct 0.51x0.53 metres in diameter that allows crawling for a length of 7 metres. Back again in the main gallery, this turns in a S direction, while the height decreases until it is reduced to only 0.44 metres, and continues thus for 7.12 metres more, where the cavity is definitively closed.
Speleothems
On the floor of the entrance gallery some points that have been disturbed can be seen, and in the final part they have broken the stalagmitic flow to remove the earth beneath.
Progression
In March 2010, members of the EC Gràcia and GE Badalona visit the cave and make a first survey. Members of the ERE – CEC and SIE – CEA, on 7 June 2014, access the cave from below, installing parabolts to overcome the 8 metres of wall and make a new survey with some differences with respect to the first. We have current news of some climbers who descend by rappel to the cave (there are recent testimonies of these visits).
History
Cavity known by people of the area who would have used it as a refuge or hiding place in relatively recent times (17th c.) and possibly later, like its neighbour the Cova I de l'Afrau.
From the blog: cientificitat.wordpress we know of an exploration carried out on 12 September 1919 by a group of people among whom was the artist Joaquim Renart, who made some drawings and in one of them, where he writes: 'coming down from the second cave' it can be seen from the section of the entrance that it is this one that we catalogue as Cova II de l'Afrau.
