Characteristics

Location

Access is via the road from Guardiola de Font-rubí to Font-rubí (BP-2126). Once past la Rubiola we will find a track on the right that leads to the Maset de les Pereres; following the track we will reach Les Pereres, from here we will take the track heading NW. A little further on we will find a fork: the left one leads to a quarry; we must follow the right one until reaching the gorge of Valldellòs, where the track makes a 180º bend. From this point we will follow the track for 1200 metres, where it becomes steep. The cave is located about 30 metres above the track, on the hydrographic left bank of the torrent.

Description

Morphology

Two entrances give access to a wide chamber of 8x12x3 metres. At the end of this we find a short ascending gallery that soon turns towards the E and descends in a gentle slope, ending after six metres.

History

Although the coves de Santa Anna are quite well known in the area, it is not until 1953 that the first mention of this cavity appears, corresponding to a biospeleological note by Dr. Francesc Español, who had visited it on 18 February 1934. We think that it is this cavity, which he describes as “large” due to the dimensions of the entrance chamber (we do not know if he knew the other caves of the same name) and which was corroborated to us by Àngel Lagar (oral data, 1974), who had visited it in 1957 also for biospeleological purposes.

In 1977 the SIE of the CEA carried out a survey that still remains unpublished. On 20 May 2005 a team from the ERE of the CEC carried out a new, more complete survey of this small cavity.

Bio

Troglocharinus españoli Zar. ssp portai (F. Español; 18-2-1934). Collection of 3 remains (type of the Cova del Bolet).
