Description
Morphology
The entrance gallery (entrance A) is about 9 metres high and follows a joint in a SW direction. At 8 metres a short gallery of 8.5 metres opens on the right, communicating through small holes with the so-called Gruta Verda (entrance B) of 16 metres in length, but the passage is impassable.
The entrance gallery continues 6 metres more, until finding some large boulders of clastic origin (section 3). From this point two galleries start, one towards the NNW and the other towards the S. The first, one metre wide and of considerable height (4.5 m), continues some 12 metres. The other, narrower (0.60 m) and 8.5 metres long, is the one that presents the most developed lithogenic process (section 12), but in an evident state of decalcification, since the infiltrations following the joint are almost nil at present.
To continue the exploration it is necessary to climb the aforementioned boulders up to a platform that follows the same direction as the entrance gallery (section 3). Again we have two paths to follow: on the right, two galleries that after 3 metres join forming a low laminator (section 11) that can be followed 10 metres more until giving through a reduced passage (section 13) to the exterior (entrance C).
On the left we have the longest gallery and the one that leads us to the final point of the cavity. It is of reduced dimensions, especially in the final part (section 9), and it is necessary to crawl until it becomes impracticable.
History
The first speleological news of the cavity is that of the chance discovery on 2 July 1972 by Jaume Rovira and Josep Graells, members of the Espeleo Club Sabadell. The following Sunday, they themselves with colleagues from the club, carry out the exploration.
The finding of a shoe nail (from an iron sole) and a pile of rocks stacked with signs of having made fire, gave them to understand that they were not the first to visit the cave. It had probably served as a refuge during the war.
A year later a very narrow passage was forced and it was possible to exit to the exterior through one of the final galleries (entrance C). Later, on 16 August 1975, J. Anglarill, J. Renom and Ll. Canet carried out the total survey.
Despite being a little-visited cavity, it seems that it was already known around the 1960s, especially by the climbers who at that time frequently visited the area. On the internet quite a lot of information can be found.
