Small cave with a 32 m passage in Pratdip (Baix Camp), on the Puig de la Cabrafiga, with a single gallery and a step of about 2 m at the entrance.

Location

In the south-westernmost sector of the Puig de la Cabrafiga hills. It can be reached via the path that climbs from Pratdip towards the Roca del Migdia and continues towards the Portell dels Graus. The cave is at the foot of the cliff above the Grauet and beside the high-voltage line.

About 100 metres further east is the Cova del Sisé, very visible from the road on the way into Pratdip.

Description

Morphology

The cave consists of a single gallery 32 metres long. In order to enter, a step of about 2 metres must be overcome, which places us in a gallery 3 x 3.5 metres with its floor largely covered by clayey and sandy materials and some blocks. This gallery continues for about 18 metres, at the end of which it narrows to dimensions of 2 x 1 metre, the section then taking on a triangular shape. This second part continues for about 7 metres in a slightly ascending direction, after which the ceiling regains height, reaching 5 metres, the point at which the cavity ends.

Hydrology

It appears to be an old spring of the waters coming from the upper area of the Cabrafiga hills.

History

Despite being a cavity well known to the people of Pratdip, the only references we have are those of the visit carried out by members of the GEP of the Agrupació Excursionista Pedraforca (Barcelona) on 1 March 1974. On the Serra de Llaberia map by Editorial Piolet it is marked, indicating Coves del Grauet, as if there were two caves together.
