Description

Morphology

The 4x2 metre entrance gives access to a short, steeply sloping ramp that descends to a chamber that forms the cavity, 23x12 metres with a maximum ceiling height of 12 metres.

Speleothems

The wall of the northern part of the chamber is covered by a layer of calcite crystals of considerable size and little consistency.

Hydrology

On the right-hand side, whenever there is no drought, there is a gour with water from seepage.

History

This cavity has been known and visited since time immemorial by the people of the area. Oleguer Escolà, in the Catálogo Espeleológico del Montsec (Espeleòleg nº 11/12), cites the cova de Millà, but the description he gives seems rather to be that of the cova del Biot; the possible confusion could be due to the fact that the cova de Millà is also known as the cova del Vilot. The GELL surveyed it in 1990.
