Characteristics

Location

Access is from Solsona via the local road LV-4241b from Lladurs to coll de Jou. At kilometre 13.2, at the height of the hostal del Cap del Pla, you must go down into the ravine, pass alongside the cluster formed by the ruined castle and the Romanesque chapel of Sant Agustí d'Isanta and follow the descending path in a N direction, towards the riera de Canalda; about two hundred metres before reaching it, we find the cave above the path, on a ledge on a half slope.

Approximate coordinates to be reviewed, without much precision.

Description

Morphology

A straight gallery of 24 metres of passage, with a SW-NE direction, open to the outside at both ends. A large entrance 8 metres wide by 7 metres high allows access to the gallery, which gradually narrows until it opens to the outside again through a new entrance one metre wide by 2 metres high, located at the N end.

Other details

Worth noting are the large blocks that seem to close off the widest entrance and a millstone that is in the middle area of the cave, on the flat floor made up of clay sediments.

History

The first exploration of which we have record was carried out on 17 September 1966 by the ERE of the CEC. But there is a document from the 11th century (Acta de consagració de la Seu d'Urgell), where the place of Les Portes is mentioned as the limit of the property of the castle and church of Isanta.
