A 34-metre-long cave with a water supply inside, in Cabacés.

Characteristics

Location

From Cabacés we will follow the track that runs parallel to the barranc Tancat towards the Foia recreation area. After travelling 1.57 kilometres, on the left of the valley we will see la Covassa; we will head towards it and to the right of the building we find a small masonry pool through which water enters. This comes from the cave, which is located about a hundred metres further up following the barranc. Inside the cave, at its end point, is where the water springs out.

Description

Morphology

The cavity, in its first part, is a rock shelter that closes in as we advance, forming a gallery up to its end.

Hydrology

At the end of the gallery, a quantity of water springs from the ceiling that varies in volume depending on the time of year. The water is collected in a container and conveyed by means of a tube to the pool that is at la Covassa. When the quantity of water that springs out is greater than what the tube can carry, then the water flows through the cavity.

History

Cavity known and used since ancient times in the area.
