Cova de la Font de l'esllavissada

Esquerda amb font al municipi del Bruc

Bruc, El • Anoia23m0

A fissure with a spring in the municipality of el Bruc, 23 metres long and 5 metres wide, known as Cova de la Font de l'Esllavissada.

Characteristics

Location

A fissure with a spring in the municipality of el Bruc. Leaving the Vicenç Barbé refuge we follow the path that passes between the agulla de la Màquina de Tren and the Miranda de les Agulles until reaching the Pas del Príncep, a col located between the upper needle of the Pas del Príncep and the area of the agulles del Bitllat. From here we continue along the path that leads us towards the coll de Port. The cave is found 200 metres to the left, a little above the path.

If coming from Can Maçana, it is much shorter to go via the coll de Guirló and follow the path of la Roca Foradada to the coll de Port and take the path that leaves in a S direction, towards the pas del Príncep, about 200 metres before the col, on the right of the path, is found the mouth of the cavity.

Description

Morphology

Cavity 23 metres long by 5 metres wide. It is formed beneath some rocks fallen from the cliff, hence the toponym of esllavissada.

Hydrology

Inside there is a small perennial cistern of water, built in the year 1947, and beside it there is a small basin with a spring, which although years ago we had seen in good condition, is currently unusable.

Other details

All of this favoured the sojourn of climbers.

History

Known since time immemorial. Mentioned in all the collections of cavities and guides to Montserrat, but of little speleological interest.

Always known as Cova-font de l'Esllavissada or, simply, Cova de l'Esllavissada, the colleagues who made the latest revision, when cataloguing a small neighbouring cave that they named Cova de l'Esllavissada, decided to catalogue this one as Cova de la Font de l'Esllavissada to differentiate them.
