A 44-metre-long cave at the base of the cingles of the serra Plana (La Febró), with a sinuous gallery of 37 metres and a shaft of 7.90 metres.

Characteristics

Location

The cave is located at the base of the cingles of the serra Plana (La Febró). From the T-704 road, between La Febró and the coll de Capafonts, at kilometre 32.435 where the road makes a 180-degree bend, we will head towards the cova dels Coloms. Once there, we will follow a faint path that runs along the base of the cingle in an easterly direction and reaches the cova del Corral. After covering 157 metres from the cova dels Coloms, we will find the cave entrance at the base of the cingle and at the point where a small torrent begins. A few metres further on we find a small cave where the entrance has been fitted with stones in the form of a dam, in order to collect the water that trickles inside.

Description

Morphology

The entrance is 1.58x0.94 metres and gives access to a sinuous gallery 37 metres long, with some crawling sections, and ends in a passage 30 centimetres high. Worth noting is the shaft found almost halfway along the route, 7.90 metres high.

Speleothems

In the shaft we also find some stalagmitic flow.

Hydrology

Water accumulates at the 30-centimetre-high passage. The pebbles found on the floor reveal its function as a spring at some exceptional moment.
