Characteristics

Location

In the Montsec de Rúbies (Vilanova de Meià). From Vilanova de Meià, follow the L-913 road towards the Hostal Roig. At km 3.2, take a track that branches off to the left (signposted Mare de Déu del Puig de Meià). We will follow this track for about 6.5 km. Here a sign indicates the track, suitable only for off-road vehicles, which after 1.4 km will bring us to the ermita de Sant Alís. About 50 metres before the ermita, we must descend to our right, with no path. Shortly afterwards, we must head to the left to cross a small scree slope, until we reach the foot of the cliff. First we will pass by the balma de l'Espluga, and about 90 metres later we will reach the cave.

Description

Morphology

An entrance 11 metres wide and 8 metres high gives way to a gallery 14 metres long that narrows until it leaves a narrow passage of just over 0.5 metres, which is easily passed to leave us in the lower part of a chamber measuring 22X8 metres. We will climb up a steep ramp and, on the left, reach the highest point of the cave (+12 metres). On the south side of the chamber, a narrow impassable passage lets us see the end of the entrance gallery.
