Characteristics

Location

The most feasible route at present to reach it is, at the entrance to La Palma de Cervelló, to head right towards the cemetery; shortly before reaching it we pass under a power line. We must go back up the path that climbs parallel to the line until it ends at a flat cross path; we will follow it to the left for a few metres and then immediately turn right, where the path climbs again. This brings us quite close to the base of the cliff where the electricity tower is. We must leave the path and follow some small trails along the E side of the cliff until we find the remains of a building; from there we already gain access towards the W to the base of the cliff, which we must cross completely, since the cave opens to the left of the electricity tower, next to a crevice shaped like a trench and a holed rock that forms a window. As a reference point, below the tower there is the mouth of a cave more than one and a half metres in diameter, but of no further interest.

Description

Morphology

It consists of a gallery 12 metres long by 1 metre wide, of regular shape. At the end of the gallery we find two branches: the first and wider one is a small room of elongated shape where one climbs up a few metres; the second is a narrow shaft that, after climbing a step, becomes impracticable.

Other details

At the same level as the cave, towards the East there are several caves that do not reach 5 metres of route.

History

Known since time immemorial by the residents of la Palma de Cervelló, it was explored at the end of 1979 by the GERS de l'AEM. Although it had previously already been visited on 14 November 1975 by Alex Batllori(+), A. Sabas, J. Folch, I Llop, of the ERC de la Agrupació Cultural Folklòrica de Barcelona, and they named it Cova dels Canalons, this record was never published (we include the original survey, which has an important error regarding the NM).
