Cova a de Valldecerves

Petita cova de poc més de 6 m. de recorregut a la Llacuna (l'Anoia)

Llacuna, La • Anoia7m2m

Small cave a little over 6 m long in la Llacuna (l'Anoia), known since time immemorial and visited by members of the GE Badalona and EC de Gràcia in late February 2014.

Characteristics

Location

From km 44 of the C-37 road, between Igualada and Querol, a track leads to the Valldecerves farmhouse. After 700 metres, and 100 metres before reaching the aforementioned farmhouse, we find a junction of tracks where we will leave the car. We will continue 100 metres in an E direction until reaching the bed of the clot de la Cova. We will continue along a small path parallel to the bed which in 300 metres takes us directly to the cova de Valldecerves, located about 5 metres above the bed of the stream.

It is located about 20 metres S of the cova de Valldecerves. To reach it, we must take a small path that branches off to the right, about 20 metres before reaching the cova de Valldecerves, and follow it for about 30 metres.

Description

Morphology

We enter through an opening 1 metre wide and 0.4 metres high. It soon gains height (up to 1 metre) and we climb over some blocks to a small chamber that marks the end of the cavity. (Vertical extent: + 1.5 m. Length: 6.5 m.)

Other details

About 150 metres N of the Cova de Vallcerves there is a miserable hole only 2 metres long that is possibly the one that had been inventoried as Escletxa de Valldecerves. In the same sector there are still a couple more holes, one of them hanging about 5 metres up the cliff. For the time being we have chosen not to catalogue all of these.

History

Known since time immemorial. It is probably the one that had been cited as Cova petita de Valldecerves, but no specific data are known until the visit by members of the GE Badalona and EC de Gràcia in late February 2014.
