Characteristics

Location

From the BV-5207 road from l'Esquirol to Tavertet, at approximately kilometre 4.5, you must turn right towards el Vilar, Sant Bartomeu Sesgorgues and el Moner; we continue towards el Villaret de Dalt, where the paved track ends, a few metres before reaching the padlock that bars the way to this farmhouse; on the right a track (high-clearance vehicles only) heads down towards el Villaret de Baix; past this the track continues towards the house of les Valls; on reaching the height of the Roca de les Valls we will find a large rock on the right of the track and a little further on, on the left, we find an old track; at this point we will park the vehicle; we must follow the left-hand track that passes above el Villaret de Baix; a little further on, when the path begins to descend, we must turn right and climb straight up along a faint trail that fades into the middle of the forest until reaching some walls where the cave is located. From el Villaret de Baix there are about 400 metres of route to the cave, and about 800 metres in total.

Description

Morphology

Curious cavity that crosses an inclined rock face on two different levels. The main entrance, very wide, gives way to a gallery with a very steeply inclined right-hand wall. Climbing up this for about 3 metres, one reaches a gallery that emerges outside on the other side of the rock face. Right here, a new gallery begins in a steep ascending ramp that runs almost parallel to the previous gallery, but at a higher level. After overcoming a step, we reach a flat gallery with a low ceiling, open to the outside through the ceiling (the half gallery), until it ends at the upper entrance, not far from the main entrance in plan, although 19 metres above it. There are other entrances that connect with the outside, although impenetrable.

History
