Camarasa • Noguera 11m

Shelter worked in the barranc de la Figuereta, at la Maçana (Camarasa), 10 metres wide and 11.5 metres deep.

Characteristics

Location

The shelter is located in the barranc de la Figuereta, at la Maçana (Camarasa). On the C-13 road from Camarasa to Tremp, at kilometre 53, we find on the right the turn-off to la Maçana, an old settlement that is currently abandoned and demolished. From the road we will follow the track in the direction of the barranc de la Figuereta for 1.6 kilometres until we reach an old quarry located on the left of the track where we will park.

Shelter no. 2 is in the middle of the others, and at a slightly higher level than shelter no. 1. Each of the three shelters is located approximately some 25 metres from the previous one.

Description

Morphology

Worked shelter 10 metres wide and 11.5 metres deep.

Progression

The most practical access is to follow the track a few metres onwards to some abandoned cultivated fields that we find on the left and cross them until we position ourselves at the upper part of the quarry where we have parked; from here we will go up the ridge line to the head of the torrent that remains on our right, then we cross the head and head directly to the shelters. The total route is 500 metres and we always have the shelters in sight.

History

Known since long ago in the area. During the campaigns that GEFOMA carried out during the 70s of the last century at Camarasa, a farmer from the area commented to them that these shelters were known as les Figueretes; currently the only references that we have found only cite them as balmes de la Maçana.
