Large rock shelter in the Ribera Salada (Lladurs), opened by water erosion in sandstones beneath a conglomerate roof. Known since time immemorial.

Characteristics

Location

We will leave Solsona on the C-26 road towards Castellar de la Ribera; after kilometre 101 we will turn right onto the LV-4011 road towards Cambrils. On crossing the Clop bridge, we will leave the vehicle in the gravel pit car park. We will continue on foot in a N direction, along the path that passes beside a ruined house, on the hydrographic right bank of the Ribera Salada, we will go up along this side of the Ribera, above the crag itself. We will cross a small torrent and continue climbing to the end of the ridge, where the path changes direction towards the west, at the highest point of the crag and where the Ribera becomes wider, offering a splendid view over the valley of the Ribera Salada. At this point we are situated directly above the great balma del Clop.

Description

Morphology

It is a large rock shelter that has been opened up by erosion from the waters of the Ribera Salada at its passage through this point, where the sandstones have been more easily eroded than the conglomerates that form its roof.

Progression

We will continue along the path in a NW direction, descending with great caution and orientation down a small channel to the torrent Pregó ravine, we will cross the torrent and continue along the left bank of the torrent, following the path to the Ribera itself. To finish reaching the rock shelter, we will follow the Ribera downstream along the right bank and by the best place, according to the state of the Ribera, because it can change from one year to the next. A small scramble will be necessary on the final stretch to climb up to the rock shelter. The route takes half an hour.
