Balma near Junyent (Odèn), a small cave about 6 metres long, known in the area since time immemorial.

Characteristics

Location

To get there we will start from Solsona along the LV-4241b road to the Cap del Pla. About a hundred metres before reaching it, we will turn left onto a small asphalted road heading west across a large esplanade. On the left we will leave the Casanova farmhouse and on the right the reservoirs of the Solsonès water association. Once past the Casanova farmhouse we will continue along the asphalted road on the right, which will gradually descend through the shady side of the Serrat del Moro. The descent becomes increasingly steep. At a very sharp bend, with the Junyent sign, we will leave the vehicle in the most suitable place where it does not cause an obstruction and cross the stream by the ford and continue along the forest track on a steep climb up to the house itself. Here the path begins as a narrow trail that passes in front of the farmhouse, levelling out in a NW direction. On the left and below us we will see the remains of the church vault. Among terraced fields we will gradually lose height, passing beside the spring that supplies water to the farmhouse, closed off by a door. We will come to a forest track, and follow it downhill to the left. A few metres further on we will find the balma de Esplugabous. We will continue down the path and a few metres further on, at the spot of a gully, above the path we will find the balma de la Mariana; from here we will gradually descend to the riera de Lacó. The path suddenly ends and we will have to finish the approach by descending through the middle of the forest for about 100 metres more. We will cross the stream and climb up another forest track, on the other slope and in the opposite direction. The climb ends in a small clearing; we will leave the path to go down to a small cave located behind a large spur, similar to a large monolith stuck to the wall, called el Pical. Coordinates not very precise.

Description

Morphology

It is a small cave about 6 metres long.

Progression

To go down to the small cave we will have to look for an abandoned narrow trail that starts from the clearing, heading N, descends towards the shady side, heading E, making a few zigzags to reach the head of a torrent with lush vegetation. This abandoned narrow trail will lead us to the wall of the spur; we must descend with great caution. Halfway up the wall there is the hole and a small ledge that would allow us to go around the Pical.

History

Known in the area since time immemorial.
