Location

From Capafonts, we will follow the TV-7041 road towards Prades; at kilometre 25.36 we will turn left to follow the track heading to the Motllats. After travelling 1.22 kilometres, at the Pla de l'Ermitanet we will find a hut where we can leave the vehicle. The fields on our left are surrounded by a metal fence, so we will continue on foot along the track for 140 metres, where we will turn left following the fence for another 140 metres; at the end of this we cross the path that comes down from the Picorandan and continue towards the NE for 200 metres, where we will find the fissure where the cavity opens almost touching the cliff, it is the entrance located furthest S of the fissure.

Description

Morphology

A 19-metre-deep pit. From the entrance one must descend a step and then a small shaft down to the base of the diaclase; this closes off on one side, while on the other we observe a serious crawlway with a strong draught of air, possibly connecting to the outside through the wall of the nearby cliff.

History

The only known data are those provided by the GIEM of the Club Excursionista de Montblanc, which explored and surveyed it on 10 April 1993. We do not know the reason why they named it Puig Ronda; we assume it must be a toponymic error, since the well-known and characteristic peak that lies above the cavity is the Picorandan. Puig Ronda does not appear in the toponymy of Capafonts.
