Characteristics

Location

From Mont-ral we head W; once past the esplanade at the exit of the village we come to a crossroads. We leave the path that climbs to La Foradada and the Pla de l'Avenc, and follow the path in a NW direction. Once we have covered 75 metres, a path comes out on the left which we follow, marked here and there with cairns and red dots. We come to a first fork where we keep right; a little further on we find a small path on the left marked with cairns and the red dots, which must be followed, as this path leads to the Teix mil·lenari. We reach a point where we must climb a steep slope formed by an accumulation of blocks; when we descend on the other side the small path passes almost touching the wall where we observe stalagmitic flows. A few metres further on, before the path begins to climb, we turn off to the right to a small col between the large blocks, where just below the col the lower mouth of the cavity opens; a small detour must be made at the mouth and we descend over the blocks until reaching the large funnel that forms the mouth. To reach the upper mouth, follow the wall where the cavity opens, climbing the slope up to the highest part.

Description

Morphology

From the lower mouth, a ramp leads us to the mouth of a pit 6.28 metres deep where we find a large ledge at the base; the pit continues at a steep angle until reaching a chamber, in the lowest part of which we find the deepest point of the cavity at -27 m.

On the West side of the chamber we climb a sloping gallery that leads us to an inclined chamber; in the highest part of this we find ourselves just at the base of the wide pit 18.4 metres deep from the upper mouth.

Situated in the lower part of the chamber we find a gallery in a SW direction that gives access to the upper part of another chamber. A little below the access to the previous gallery, descending a step between blocks, one can reach the lower part of this chamber, separated from the upper part by a large step.

Speleothems

On the small path, almost touching the wall, stalagmitic flows are observed.
