A 4-metre-deep fissure at the Roca del Migdia, La Febró, with a zigzag gallery of 17 metres that returns to the exterior.

Location

At kilometre 22 of the T-704 road (Vilaplana to la Febró) and 180 metres from the junction with the TV-7092 road (turn-off to l'Alforja), a track leaves the N side of the road heading towards the pits of la Febró. When we reach the coll de l'Agustens we will find the GR-7 on the left of the track heading to l'Arbolí; we will follow this track until passing under a power line; 500 metres further on we will find a junction, we must turn right, where there is an iron pole with a cement base; the path passes again under the power line; when we reach the end, we will continue in a N direction until reaching the cliff where, among various fractures, we will find this one. It is very close to the pits of the Roca dels Migdia no. 1, 2 and 3, on the same cliff. Approximate coordinates.

Description

Morphology

An exterior fissure running E-W allows entry into a zigzag gallery, which after 17 metres comes out again to the exterior.

History

Cited by Ramon Amigó i Anglés in 1960 in the third revised and expanded edition of “Les Muntanyes de Prades, el Montsant i Serra de la LLena”, this group of fissures located to the NW of the Roca del Migdia belongs to the same group of fissures as the avencots dels Motllats de la Pona, from which they are separated by less than a hundred metres; in this space between both groups of fissures, we also find more superficial fissures. In 1976 Gabriel Roig (Biel), together with other members of the D.E.R. REDDIS, explored and surveyed them.
