Characteristics

Location

Leaving La Guardia d'Ares in the direction of Taús we will take the third turning on the left, descending as far as the Borda de “La Feu”. We will cross the Barranc dels Prats over an old bridge and continue along the main track until reaching the col; at this point, when the track begins to descend, we will take a track on the left that leads us into the “Plan Fornesa”, a flat surface with a small elevation. After covering some 300 metres from the last junction we will continue on the left in the direction of the highest point. The cavity is found at the start of the climb, some 4 metres behind a very visible rock slab.

Description

Morphology

Small entrance of 0.70 x 0.40 metres which gives way to an eleven-and-a-half-metre shaft. Its base places us on a ramp 5.5 metres long that brings us to a gallery running N-S. On the north side a narrow fissure ends up making the continuation impracticable.

History

The first exploration was carried out by members of the GES-CMB in March 1957, giving it 21 metres of depth and naming it, it seems erroneously, Forat del Pla Formosa (Cordada nº 27, 1957).
