Location

From the end of Carrer Cardó in Tivenys we follow the track heading to the Cardó spa; after covering 6.4 Qm we reach a stretch of pronounced bends known as l'Escaleta, and at the second left-hand bend we leave the vehicle.

The cavity lies in a SE direction with no specific path, a little more than 400 metres away, in the area of the Pare Sant estate, about twenty metres away and some 12 metres below the ruined small farmhouse of that name and above the right hydrographic slope of the barranc de Palanques.

The entrance is protected by a dry-stone wall.

Description

Morphology

The entrance has an opening of one metre and connects to a sloping shaft that leads into a large chamber. At the lowest point of this chamber there is still a small pit through which the point of maximum depth is reached (- 35 m).

Speleothems

The large chamber shows the presence of lithogenic forms on the ceiling.

Progression

The data on the route through the cavity are estimates and were not provided by the authors of the cavity's sketch (UEC Tortosa).

History

The only known data are those provided by members of the Speleology and Canyoning Section of the UEC Tortosa (Xavier Mauri, Toni Serrat and J. Tiron), who explored it on 3 February 2013.
