Characteristics

Location

We leave Campgràs and follow the path of the Morella. We reach the coll de l'Infern (to the SW of the summit) and continue down almost as far as the pla del Bruc.

From the coll de l'Infern the path descends fairly straight; after about 400 metres it makes a sudden turn to the left and then one to the right, heading straight for the corral del Bruc. We follow a more or less straight stretch, leaving the ruins of a hut on the right until another bend to the right. From this point, on our left, a very faint path sets off, descending towards the bed of the fondo where some cairns can be seen. The avenc d'en Pere is on our right, about 10 metres before reaching the fondo.

Description

Morphology

The small entrance of the pit, the result of a dig, connects with a small shaft of 8 metres with a ledge 3 metres from its start. At its base it communicates with a new shaft, with a blind roof, and 10 metres of drop, immediately followed by one of 13 metres. At the base of this begins another of about 25 metres of depth which connects laterally with two concavities, also with a blind roof and joined by coalescence, which give rise to the largest chamber of the cavity. At its lowest point a new shaft begins, cylindrical and with 26 metres of drop. 3 metres above its base there is a window that allows entry into a jointed concavity with an inclined section that descends about 12 metres more, its bottom constituting the point of maximum penetration of the pit at elevation – 93.

Other details

It should be borne in mind that at some point hypoxia has been detected, it being one of the cavities of the Garraf in which the oxygen percentage was lowest.

History

Discovered at the beginning of 1967 by a group of members of the GES – CMB led by Xavier Coromina. The entrance was opened by digging and, due to its narrowness, the first to pass through was the smallest boy, named Pere.

It was fully explored and surveyed in the month of March 1967.

Bio

Troglocharinus ferreri reitt.

Collected by Oleguer Escolà, close to a hundred live specimens, on 7 November 1975.
