Location

Cavity located 110 metres SE of the avenc del Bruc, on the other slope of the ravine and ascending to 475 metres altitude. From its mouth the old platform of the avenc del Bruc is visible. It is also located 160 metres in direction W21S from the remains of the Morella hut, which is next to the track that descends from the coll de la Morella. Located on a joint, and quite hidden by exuberant esparto grass.

Description

Morphology

Pit located in a stepped fracture. The mouth is 1X1 metre. 2 metres of inclined passage are descended until reaching the head of a shaft 4 metres deep, and a width of 0.60X1.50 metres. At the base of the shaft, if we look in direction NE we find an entrance 0.80 metres high and 0.60 metres wide that leads to a small descending passage of 1.30 metres. Above this entrance there is a small window of 0.50X0.50 metres that communicates with the ceiling of the aforementioned passage. If we look in direction NO, there is an insignificant attached shaft 0.50 metres deep and 0.70 metres in diameter. At this point the maximum depth of the pit occurs: -6 metres.

History

Pit of which there was no kind of reference, but descending a couple of metres inside the cavity, we find a painting on the wall of the shaft that says: “AVENC JOAN GRAO” and the initials “GRIS”. The GRIS (Grup de Recerques i Investigacions Subterrànies) of the Centre Excursionista de la Salle de Gràcia (currently disappeared), began its activity in 1965. As a result of the prospections made recently around the avenc del Bruc, Carles Miranda and Enric Porcel of the GEB, located the mouth on 22/02/2015, returning to complete the catalogue file on 8/03/2015, this time accompanied by Jordi Llorca, Jordi de Valles and Josep Cuenca.
