Small pit 7 m deep in the Serra de l'Obac, with an elongated opening 7 by 2 metres, walls covered in moss and a floor of sand and plant debris.

Location

Going along the road from Terrassa to Rellinars (B-122) and past the Casa de l'Obac, at km. 10.7, on a very tight bend, a track comes out on the left which we must follow until reaching an esplanade formed by a rocky area. From here we will go to the left, continuing a few metres below the rocky area. Entering the dense holm oak forest and not yet five metres from the rocky area is the pit.

Description

Morphology

The elongated opening of 7 by 2 metres allows us to descend into an inclined shaft. At each end of the floor small holes can be seen that end after a few metres. The pit is structured on a N80E-S80W joint.

Other details

The walls are covered in moss and the floor is formed of sand and plant debris.

History

In the Guia Monogràfica de Sant Llorenç del Munt, published by the Centre Excursionista de Terrassa in 1935, mention is made of the Avenc d'Alzina Teresa and it is given 12 metres of depth. We know that in 1964 members of the GES-CMB visited it a couple of times, correcting its depth to the real one. It seems that people from Terrassa confused it with another pit, also mentioned in the guide, as Avenc del Sot del Teix.
