Descrizione
Morfologia
The first rocky steps of the ridge mark the start of the escletxa del Toll Blau, a deep fissure that opens right on the ridge. Once on top of the first rocky step we can already see the great fissure that opens at our feet, but to enter we must follow the ridge for a few metres in an E direction, because a good part of the fissure opens underground, with no opening to the outside. It has a length of 226 metres and a vertical drop of 75 metres (-41/+34).
Progressione
Almost at the tip of a cliff and on the left, an opening equipped with a fixed rope allows us to descend, very carefully, to the start of some sections equipped with cable. On the right the cable takes us to a belay equipped for abseiling down to the base of the cliff; further down some rea steps with cable allow us to descend through the fissure, apparently at the base of the same abseil, and on the left another cable goes deeper into the depths of the fissure. Progressing as on a via ferrata, we descend by this last option. From here on, lighting is needed, only a small chink of light opens many metres above, and in some places the fissure goes deeper into the heart of the mountain below.
Storia
This great fissure does not appear in any catalogue or list of the pits of el Port. It seems to have been known for a relatively short time by hikers and climbers, a series of cables, anchors and steps having been installed, fixed into the rock in order to facilitate progression through its interior in the manner of a via ferrata.
There is also another report on wikiloc made by Joan Ramírez (CE Dinàmics, la Ràpita) who calls it: Avenc de l'Ombria del Toll Blau.
