Caratteristiche

Località

The cave is located on the left bank of the Siurana river, at the foot of the cliff between the river and the village of Galligant. Leaving the village of Arbolí by road, continue along the first turning on the right that leads to the Mas de Salin (rural house), where the vehicles are left. Follow the path that descends through the grau de Vincabrer and continue in a NE direction until you come across some large stones fallen from the cliff, where the cave of the Cingle del Bodro is found. It is to the west of the Tosca and Porta-Lloret caves.

Descrizione

Morfologia

At the entrance of the cave there are the remains of an old dry-stone wall that gives way to a hall 13 metres long by 10 metres wide with a height of 2.5 metres; this hall connects with the rest of the cave through an open-roofed section 7 metres long. The underground gallery continues through a hall 5 metres long by 12 metres wide, where, in the N sector, access opens to a lower floor by a ramp 18 metres long, along which a depth of 11 metres was reached. The cave is developed within a large chaos of blocks, being a clastic process originating from the detachment of large blocks of rock from the cliff.

Storia

Cavity known to hikers but which had remained unpublished speleologically until the visit carried out on 11 February 2017 by members of the EC Gràcia, SIS – CE Terrassa and GE Badalona, who carried out the cataloguing work.

Toponymy: in different guides of hiking routes this cavity is signposted as cova del Cup or dels Cups, but according to the question about the name of this cave that Joan Pallisé asked Rafel Ferré, from Reus, a very good connoisseur of the area and a disseminator who does valuable work of research, rediscovery and repair of paths and other symbolic places of the mountains (for example, he publishes on Twitter, Camins oblidats), Ferré came to answer that the cliff is known as “Cingle del Macià Bodro” (not Bodró as the ICC writes). The cova del Cup or Cups has nothing to do with this one of the cingle del Macià Bodro, since the cova del Cup is at the cingle Roig, to which the last name of cova de la Tuïs has also been applied, although before it may have been known as the cova de les Monges… Thus, the explorers, following the indications of the experts, have decided to designate this cavity with the place name, cova del Cingle del Bodro.
