Caratteristiche

Località

From kilometre 14.8 on the road from Begues to Olesa de Bonesvalls, cross the Begues stream and go up along the Valldosseres hollow, which is right at this point. When you are almost beneath the first power line that you will come across, the torrent splits; you must branch off towards the right-hand torrent in the direction of travel and follow it for about 250 metres, then climb up the right bank for about 30 metres to the foot of a small crag where the entrance to the cavity is found.

Descrizione

Morfologia

The entrance opens in a small shelter about 3 metres long by 1 metre high. At the end of it is the first 28-metre shaft; its base is 10 metres wide; at this point we find three possible continuations, one that descends to a depth of -50 metres while the other two join a few metres on and descend to a depth of -71 metres. In this last shaft, when we have descended about 30 metres we find an opening in the wall, which after descending about 8 metres continues by means of two typical “culs de sac” where the deeper one reaches -78 metres. Back at the -50 m level, after a narrow passage that we find on one side of the base and descending a small step, we find a new divided shaft that descends to -71 metres. A ramp and some small shafts at the end place us at the maximum depth of -84 metres.

Storia

We had little information about the discovery and first exploration of this cavity, some of it even unreliable. Daniel Vergés (GES-CMB) tells us that since the explorations of the 1950s at the avenc de l'Esquerrà, he had a lot to do with a group of young enthusiasts from Olesa de Bonesvalls, among them Joaquim Farigola, son of the “cocuero” of Olesa, who collaborated so much in the campaigns at l'Esquerrà. Through them he learned of the existence of an unexplored pit that a woodcutter from Olesa by the surname Sellarès had found. In June 1960 they carried out the first exploration and dedicated it to its discoverer.

Despite its interest, the cavity went unnoticed for a long time and for years visits were very few, since it did not even appear on the Alpina maps of the time. Not until 1973 does the first bibliographic mention of the cavity appear.

Around 2001, we do not know who, enlarged the laminador at the entrance to the first shaft.
