Camprodon • Ripollès28m20m

Small pit 20 metres deep near Beget (Camprodon), with an entrance 1.50 metres in diameter and a shaft of 18 metres.

Characteristics

Location

From Beget we will follow the paved track in the direction of Oix; just before crossing the Riera de Beget at the height of the pont d'en Quelet, we will turn left onto the track that runs along the left bank of the Riera de Beget, until we reach cal Barrancot. From the farmhouse, after crossing a torrent, one continues along the path until climbing a small col. The cavity is found about 150 metres from the col and 40 metres higher up, in the middle of the forest and almost at the top of a very slight crest that begins at the aforementioned col, sloping towards cal Barrancot and about 600 metres from it, difficult to locate. It is found in the place called els Trigassos, below the Pla de Beines, at 135 metres of altitude relative to the riera de Beget. Approximate coordinates without much precision.

Description

Morphology

Entrance 1.50 metres in diameter that gives access to a shaft of 18 metres from the upper lip, which is found 1 metre above the lower one. The first 5 metres of the shaft are somewhat inclined towards the E, up to some wedged blocks; from here the shaft becomes wide, up to 2.50 metres in diameter, with walls of polished rock and an almost circular section, with an elongated point towards the S40E end of the joint. Towards the base the shaft widens, joining with another lateral shaft structured on the same joint. The floor of 10.50x2.50 metres descends to -20 metres of depth at the N40O end, and ends in a small hole obstructed by sediments.

History

On 23 June 1969, it is explored by members of the ERE of the CEC, accompanied by Joan Carrera, teacher of Beget and people from cal Barrancot.
