Characteristics

Location

On the B-402 road, from Guardiola de Berguedà to La Pobla de Lillet, on reaching kilometre 7.5, we turn left and cross el Plantiu, we follow the track past the side of the pic del Trull and continue to the coll de Cerqueda. We continue along the path on the left until we pass the “llengua eixuta”, a really curious spot, which is fully identified with its name. We continue a little further to the point just before a stone wall, from where a path leaves to the left according to the direction of travel, (ED50 coordinates X: 412358 Y: 4679358) which takes us back to a col through which we cross to the other slope. First we go along the flat and on reaching a gully we go down to the mouth of the cavity.

It can also be accessed from the cement museum at La Pobla de Lillet, from where the track that heads to the refugi d'Erols leaves, once at the refuge, a track closed with a chain heads to the coll de Cerqueda, from there one must follow the itinerary mentioned above.

It should be borne in mind that in the area there are tracks restricted to vehicle traffic.

Description

Morphology

The entrance, in the form of a large inclined funnel, follows a steeply descending ramp covered with dry leaves. At the lowest end, after passing a small step and some blocks, a large room with a triangular structure is formed, with the floor and ceiling covered in blocks, following the same inclination as the access ramp. At the end of the large room there is a short, narrow passage through which we crawl along an inclined conduit about 10 metres long to reach a 2-metre-deep step. It soon takes on more regular dimensions between large blocks; a few metres on and entering through an easy passage free of blocks, one reaches a thin descending concretion-covered ramp, which forces one to climb to reach the centre of a gallery-room measuring 15x12x5 metres, Sala d'Enllaç, with a broader, comfortable and well-decorated structure, maintaining a totally descending direction passable on the left. A trench on the right allows simple progress until reaching a broader room with a horizontal ceiling and a floor with no notable unevenness. Two small side steps to the right of the aforementioned room lead to decided ramps that follow the bedding planes, until stopping at an impassable low-ceiling passage, located at -59 metres depth.

Once in the Sala d'enllaç, we find the logical continuation of the explored section, but in the opposite direction, we can climb up a rising gallery about 30 metres in linear length, very beautiful and with the floor full of water pools of different sizes, the highest point is at -14 metres with respect to the entrance mouth.

From the Sala d'Enllaç to the room with the horizontal ceiling, a second conduit with a lower ceiling and full of slabs fallen from the ceiling runs parallel to the main gallery, which greatly hinders exploration. At its final part, of more notable dimensions, we again reach the room with the horizontal ceiling via a vertical drop of 4 metres.

Hydrology

A small current of water flows through this last section, produced by the abundant drips in the aforementioned galleries.

History

The first news we have of the exploration of the cavity is that carried out by the SIEP of the Centre Excursionista Poblet de Barcelona in 1980, who explored it to a depth of -22 metres, with a length of 60 metres.

In the summer of 2006 the SEO of the Centre Excursionista de Vallirana cleared the final point known until then, accessing new galleries of greater length and unevenness.
