Description
Morphology
Cave 2: The cave has three entrances. The two on the left are very close together and, because of their curious shape, resemble the holes of a nose. The passages of both holes soon meet and form a small ascending chamber at the end of which there is a completely impassable hole, but through which we can see a widening on the other side. Entering through the third entrance, after a narrow section we reach a chamber that is not very high-ceilinged, at one end of which there is an impassable hole that also communicates with the aforementioned widening. From this chamber an impassable passage leads out to the crag. Total length, 21 m.
Cave 3: Once past the entrance we find an ascending passage which, because of its characteristics and gradient, closely resembles the passage of la Cova -1, but is shorter. At the upper part the level of +6 m is reached. Total length, 10 m.
Cave 4: Small cave of 3 m, very low-ceilinged.
Speleothems
Cave 4: its particularity is the existence of very old concretions, almost the only ones found in the group of the four cavities.
History
The caves were discovered, some years ago, by Ramon Ricart, a former forest ranger and a good connoisseur of the mountains of northern Berguedà. It was Ramon himself who accompanied members of the ECM Barcelonès and the GE Badalona to the caves in order to carry out the studies and surveys for their cataloguing.
Bio
The dense undergrowth of box trees is completely defoliated by the action of the box tree moth, Cydalima perspectalis.
