Characteristics

Location

From Ossera, we will take the track that passes beside the water pool and heads towards the coll d'Ares; on reaching the Era de Polla we will take the right-hand turn-off, in the direction of the Cortal dels Plans, which we will leave on the right in order to continue onwards, going deeper into the Casal woods in the direction of the abandoned mas de Casal, which we will also leave on the right. In time, we will reach Plansarell, an esplanade that places us above the barrancs de Forn and Caferna.

Now we must leave the main path; we will deviate slightly to the right, following the red marks through the woods along the left bank of a gully in the direction of the Roca dels Morruts, until on the steep slope we locate the wide mouth of the grallera, encircled by moss.

Description

Morphology

A 4 x 2 metre entrance and a 23-metre pit; the base, slightly wider, is characterised by a large accumulation of blocks. A pit with a drop of 8.3 metres follows; at the base, a comfortable chamber communicates with a lateral fissure where a 3-metre step places us in a new lateral passage with an unsettling cone of debris where a new vault similar and parallel to the previous ones has been found; clearance work is currently under way.

History

Known to the people of Ossera since time immemorial; indeed, ancient legends circulate around this cavity. It seems that in the past it had had some kind of industrial or research activity.

Explored by the GELL between 1998 and 2005.
