Characteristics

Location

The village of Santa Engràcia is reached from the C-13 road; after one kilometre past the village, a track leaves on the left where there is a signpost reading (EIN S.Gervàs and restricted access for 6 kms.). This track, suitable for 4x4s and high cars, is followed for 6 kilometres to the Coll de Castellet, where there is a no-entry sign. The track is followed along the top of the Serra de Castellet in a SW direction to a signpost a little before the summit of the Pou de la Neu (there is currently an antenna there). Near this signpost a path leaves to the left towards the E slope, leading to the ridge of a crest that is gradually descended; after about 15 minutes from the signpost, a large holm oak is seen, where the collapse of the Graller begins. From the Coll de Castellet it takes approximately 30 minutes. At present, to access the cavity, a good clearing of the vegetation around the entrance must first be done.

Description

Morphology

Within a large depression of 20x10 metres and 10 metres of drop, the two entrances of the cavity open, converging into a pit 16 metres deep, which opens onto a level of 17x6 metres and continues as a ramp towards the SSW. At the bottom, through a narrow passage between blocks, one enters a gallery 30 metres long, ascending towards the NW, until it narrows. Towards the S it becomes a clayey bedding plane, where the point of maximum depth is reached.

History

The first exploration was carried out by the ERE of the CEC in 1971.
