Location

On the S slope of a hill (elevation 1119) located at the head of the canal del Rito. In this sector, already close to the boundary with Aragon, it can be reached from the track (Camí de la Mola de Lino) that branches off to the left of the main track of the Mola de Catí, a few metres after passing the pit of Mamelons.

Description

Morphology

Through an entrance of regular dimensions one enters a slightly descending gallery that leads into a chamber formed by the union of three short galleries. To the right of the final stretch of the entrance gallery a short descending passage begins, at the bottom of which is the deepest point of the cavity. Above the entrance there is another opening that gives access to a descending passage of smaller dimensions which, after turning to the left, leads into a small shaft by which one can reach, on one side, the lower hall.

History

We imagine that it is a cavity well known for many years to the people of the area and to hikers from Tortosa. It is not until 1982 that members of the SIRE – UEC Tortosa visit and survey it. For many years, on the cartography of the Port, a cavity with the same name has been recorded, but much further to the east, near the camí de la Gabarda, and of which we have no reference, or else it is an error.
