Forat del Pla de Calama

Petita cavitat de 8 metres de desnivell al municipi de Coll de Nargó

Coll de Nargó • Alt Urgell11m8m

Small cavity with 8 metres of vertical drop in the municipality of Coll de Nargó, at the roca Senyús, in the Plan de Calama.

Characteristics

Location

This cavity opens to the west of the roca Senyús, right in the middle of the Plan de Calama, which is a hanging basin at 1800 metres of altitude.

To reach it, take the track that from near Bóixols heads towards the Obaga Negra and the coll de Llívia; from there we will continue along the track in the direction of Hortoneda. Shortly after we will find a first track on the right that heads towards Cal Magí; we will continue along the one on the left and after a little more than 3 kilometres we will find another track on the right where the circulation of vehicles is prohibited. Following this track, after a few hundred metres we will reach a metal water basin where there is a spring and a watering trough; we will climb parallel to the torrent that comes to us from the left until we find some wire fences, which we will jump over to go into the Plan de Calama, where at the bottom we will see how the roca Senyús rises; continuing in the direction of it through the middle of the plain we will find the cavity.

Description

Morphology

The cavity has a vertical drop of 8 metres. Between the blocks that form the entrance we can descend by means of a narrow passage a couple of metres; from here a narrow conduit running E-W places us at the bottom of the cavity.

Hydrology

The cavity collects the waters of the area acting as a sinkhole, just like other small conduits in the surroundings.

Progression

Between the blocks that form the entrance we can descend by means of a narrow passage a couple of metres; from here a narrow conduit running E-W places us at the bottom of the cavity.

History

Located and explored for the first time by the SIE – CE Àliga in 1990. Due to the deficient cartography of the time of the IGC it is cited at the Pla de Llet when in reality it is at the Pla de Calama.
