Description
Morphology
Once past the entrance tube, we reach a small chamber with dissolution cupolas; the gallery soon takes on regular dimensions of 2 metres in height by 1.5 in width and meanders while the floor is full of gours. A low ceiling passage climbs directly up to the sump gallery, of more comfortable dimensions. To the right, we will soon enter the first sump. Once this has been emptied, a beautiful and sinuous gallery continues for about a hundred metres until we encounter the first affluents of an almost vertical nature. From here the main gallery takes on a rising tendency until reaching a fork that leads to an affluent which, after some climbs, becomes impassable. Following what is considered the main gallery, after a fine concretion-covered ramp one reaches a horizontal gallery, where the clear waters of the second sump suddenly appear. Once this has been passed, the gallery presents the same rectilinear characteristics as before. After ascending a few metres, it takes on a jointed appearance, descending decisively until reaching an area with a floor full of sand. A wall abruptly cuts off the gallery; below it a narrow loss probably drains part of the water during floods. An easy scramble connects us through a double passage once again with the gallery. From here the gallery presents a more rugged morphology than the previous stretches, maintaining a clear descending direction. After some ramps that follow the bedding planes, we reach a chamber. Through its centre, after a slide we come upon the most vertical part of the cavity, with three practically consecutive drops. The section widens until reaching a couple of chimneys at the point where the sand occupies the entire base of the gallery, to the point of almost obstructing it. Once this stretch has been passed, the gallery recovers its usual section until reaching a false sump, where it is obligatory to get wet. The gallery continues descending with the same pattern until reaching the third and last sump. This fluctuates according to the season, having observed that from the pool that forms the sump a gallery vault emerges that ends in a sump in a wide pool where the water continues to deepen. The cavity has an elevation gain of 137 metres (+28/-109).
History
Obstruction removal and first exploration carried out by the GELL. In 2002, blocks were cleared at the entrance and the entrance was protected by placing a galvanised tube in a vertical position 3 metres high and 1.10 metres wide and closed with a grille. In 2004 the sump was emptied. The point of maximum penetration was reached on 5 August 2005, in a year when the rainfall regime was below the usual average.
