Characteristics

Location

Going from Oliana to la Seu d'Urgell on the C-14, just as you leave the village and once past kilometre 143, we will turn right in the direction of la Móra Comdal. We will pass through a cut-rock pass called Coll del Portell; the road descends until it reaches the level of the Oliana reservoir and, after a bridge where the asphalt ends, we will continue to the right. The track that follows is suitable for cars; we will continue upstream along the river de la Móra, crossing the river about six times with water if it is not a dry season, and further up we will find the caseta del prat, converted into an agricultural holding.

Following the track, it would take us to the serra Seca, but at the next bend to the right after the caseta, we will follow the path on the left, more damaged than the previous one; we will reach a crop field after crossing a small ditch and a fence for the cows. We will leave the vehicle at the foot of the field, from where we will already make out the cave in the wall. We will cross the whole field, enter the forest in a NW direction and climb up to the foot of the cliff, where with a bit of orientation and skill we will end up finding it. Approximate coordinates without much precision.

Description

Morphology

Rock shelter 10 metres deep in Odèn. The cavity ascends about 8 metres over a route of 10 metres.

Speleothems

Right in the middle of the entrance we find a large stalagmite about 2 metres high.

Progression

As it is a very rarely visited cave, due to its location and lack of knowledge about it, access can be difficult because of the large amount of brambles and, if it is wet, it is slippery.

Other details

Once inside, the whole valley can be seen.

History

The only data we know about the cavity are those provided by Salvador Codina, who explored it in the last decade of the past century.
