Small cave at L'Avellà (Font-rubí), with earthy floor and ascending ramp, with a window in the ceiling that lights the chamber.

Characteristics

Location

About Km 4.5 on the BP-2126 road is the urban nucleus of L'Avellà, in the municipality of Font-rubí, from which an uphill path heads NW to the font del Joncar.

The cave is about 75m to the NE of the font del Joncar, above the cliff immediately next to the spring and in an area where the cliff forms a small cirque.

If we take the Cova Inferior del Joncar as a reference, the upper one is about 16m higher in the aforementioned rock cirque.

Description

Morphology

Cave of habitable dimensions with an earthy floor and an ascending ramp, in which shortly after passing the entrance there is a window in the ceiling that perfectly lights the whole chamber.

Towards the end of the cavity there is some impenetrable passage that ends the cavity.

History

In August 2021 Jordi Navarro and Montse Mañosa (Centre Excursionista Castellar) visited it and made the survey.
