A wide rock shelter in Cervià de les Garrigues, 32 m wide and 5 m deep, known since time immemorial and catalogued by members of ECM Barcelonès in October 2019.

Characteristics

Location

From the N end of Cervià de les Garrigues we will take the path from Cervià to l'Albagés, which runs parallel to the riu de Set. After about 3.3 km we will turn right onto a track. We will soon leave the path leading to the ermita de Santa Maria de les Besses on the right and continue for 400 m. The cave is on the right, about 120 away and 26 m above the track, at the bottom of a small valley, very hidden by the vegetation.

Description

Morphology

Cave 32 m wide and 5 m deep, with a height of just over 1 m for most of it, with some blocks, mainly at the E end.

Hydrology

In times of rain a stream flows through the interior in an E-W direction.

History

Known since time immemorial. Catalogued by members of ECM Barcelonès in October 2019.
