Through the book by Modest Prats and Joan Carreres («Verdaguer a la Mare de Deu del Mont», Edicions del Pèl, Salt 1984) a text by J. Verdaguer is known which, although it does not mention the caves, refers to the great landslide that occurred in the year 1882 and where it says that large cracks are seen there. It should be noted that Verdaguer was not at the sanctuary until two years later, in 1884. Therefore, he writes it based on the imaginative comments of the villagers, since neither is his mention of an earthquake that occurred in Múrcia correct.
