Small cave with a passage of 33 metres in Montsant (Ulldemolins), with a chamber of 13x6 metres and 2-3 in height and a gallery of 17 metres.

Characteristics

Location

Ulldemolins, take the paved track of les Ermites, which leaves from the W side of the village. The cave entrance opens on the hydrographic right bank of a small stream that flows down towards the N, from below the ermita de Santa Magdalena, at the base of a reddish hillock 691 metres high and about 50 metres before the stream crosses the track that leads to the ermita, located about 250 metres away.

Description

Morphology

A small entrance leads to a slightly curved and elongated chamber measuring 13x6 metres and 2-3 in height, with some clastic materials. As we advance, the chamber gradually becomes a fairly narrow gallery 17 metres long; this first ascends slightly, then flattens out and ends in a widening with a low ceiling. The total drop is 3 metres (-1/+2).

History

Explored in 1984 by the GES del CM Terrassa, based on the indications of some friends of theirs (J. Ciurans, R. Rius and J. Roca) who accompanied them to the cave.
