Characteristics

Location

By the N-260 road, heading from Bellver de Cerdanya to Puigcerdà, shortly before kilometre 191 there is the turn-off of the GIV-4032 road that leads to the small village of Olopte. From the entrance of the village, follow carrer Església until reaching carrer A; on the left a street descends and soon becomes a path until reaching a bridge that crosses the Duran river; we will follow the path downstream for about 180 metres. The cavity is located about 65 metres N of the Cova Gran, halfway between it and cave B. The cave is located about 30 metres above the path that runs parallel to the Duran river on the hydrographic right slope, on the same rocky spur where cave D is found; from this one must follow a few metres towards the S and turn right along the base of the wall of the climbing routes. The small entrance can be seen from the path that runs parallel to the Duran river.

History

The group of the caves of Olopte catalogued from the letter “E” to “I” were explored and surveyed by members of the ERE-CEC around 1966, although they remained unpublished until 1978, when the colleague Josep Castell (epr) provided them for the first volume of the Catàleg Espeleològic de Catalunya (1978).
