Small cave with a passage of 19 metres in the Serra l'Obac, with a portal about 5 metres wide by 2 metres high.

Characteristics

Location

From the car park at l'Alzina del Sal·lari, we head towards the Coll del Boix. Once we reach the area where the path passes over the stepped rocky ground above the font dels Traginers, we find a small temporary pool of water at the point where the path turns left. At this point you must leave the path and continue straight on along a narrow trail that skirts the cliff and, within a few metres, leads to the cave.

Description

Morphology

With a portal about 5 metres wide by 2 metres high, one enters almost halfway along a gallery about 16 metres long by 3 wide and 2 high. At its NE end, a small opening gives access to the outside, while at the other end of the gallery we find two small conduits, one at ground level and the other raised. The cave totals 19 metres of passage.

History

It is certainly known from ancient times, but the first record we know of is the visit in April 1961 by members of GES – CMB, as recorded in their activity book. In November 1965, other members of the same group mention la Cova dels Traginers, which we believe is the same. In the list of cavities in the 1972 edition of the Editorial Alpina map it appears listed as Cova dels Graons de Mura with no. 115 and makes it quite clear that it is located above the font dels Traginers. Finally, in April 1996 Xavier Badiella (SIS - CET) visited it and published a brief note with the only known survey.

Other authors cite it as Balma dels Traginers and use the name Cova dels Graons de Mura for a small rock shelter located at the start of the path and very close to l'Alzina del Sal·lari. We catalogue this small rock shelter as Balma dels Graons de Mura.
