A 27-metre-long cave in Fórnols, with a narrow entrance and a fissure that climbs up to a balcony over the road.

Characteristics

Location

In front of the village of Fórnols there is a flat area where you can leave the vehicle. From here we follow the road on foot in the direction of Adraén for about 350 metres. On the right verge we find a concrete pipe for the water of the verge; we pass over the pipe coming out of the road and climb a rocky rise where we find red paint indicating the cave. Shortly after we find a PVC water pipe, we follow it in the direction of Fórnols, where we also keep finding red paint marks that in about fifty metres will take us to the cave. This is a couple of metres above the ground; currently (2023) there is a rope on a tree to facilitate access. The entrance is to the right of the rope, there is no need to climb to the end of the rope.

Description

Morphology

A narrow entrance gives way to a small one-metre rise that places us in a fissure that descends in a slope down to 2.5 metres. Here the fissure turns to the left and climbs until reaching an ascending 2-metre rise; the fissure turns again to the right and continues climbing until it emerges outside within a perpendicular fissure without a roof. This forms a balcony and overhangs just above the road.

Progression

In order to descend it is necessary to rig a rope of about 15 metres; it is easier to retrace the way through the cave.

History

A cavity that seems to have been known to the people of Fórnols, but unknown at a speleological level.
