Characteristics

Location

From the school of Tuixent, located at the crossroads of carrer de les Escoles and carrer del Fiter, we will go up the latter towards the village water tanks. After covering 190 metres and when the path curves to the right, a small path comes out on the left; at this point we will leave the path in a N direction, jump a wire fence with concrete posts and, after 25 metres from the path, we will reach another wire fence that protects against falling into the pit; it is necessary to jump the wire mesh and look for the point where there is the rope to descend.

Description

Morphology

A wide entrance about 2.5 metres in diameter, quite hidden by the vegetation, gives way to a 3-metre drop. The base of the drop is a ramp towards a window that opens to the outside. The shaft is full of large blocks. Once at the base, about two metres towards the W a small cave about 5 metres deep opens, in the middle of which we find a rock column.

Speleothems

In the middle of the small cave we find a rock column.

Progression

Currently (2023) there is a piece of rope that facilitates access to the drop. The shaft is full of large blocks that facilitate the descent without the need for equipment.

History

A cavity always known in Tuixent, but unknown at a speleological level. According to what they say in the village, it was used in times of war by the emboscats.

For some time the area where the cavity is located was used as a dump, therefore at the base of the cavity we find all kinds of junk, plastics, glass, etc.
